Iโ€™ve spent quite a lot of time at different airports around the world by now. Glad to see that a few things have become the standard, like free wifi and drinking water.

One thing that sucks at almost every airport though is the sitting areas. I donโ€™t understand why itโ€™s so hard to make this comfortable.

Most of the time the chairs are stuck together with armrests in the middle making it impossible to lie down. If youโ€™re waiting for a long time though, it would be quite nice to get in a comfortable position. Some airports might have lounge chairs for longer waits but those are always taken, of course. And there are way too few.

How could the alternative look like? Iโ€™ve seen a great solution only once (in Fiji airport of all places): Cushiony cubes. Those can be rearranged and put together however you like them. You can sit on them, sleep on them, super flexible! Add some plugs into the floor and everybody will be happy.

Another thing that would be great to have: enough desks for people who want to get some work done. Nothing better to kill the time with being a little productive.

@juliasaxena It's almost as if most airports were designed with the thinking that people would only be there for short periods of time when obviously this is not true. I agree there is much that can be done to improve airports to make them more accommodating to comfort and production.
