There are too many things worth being grateful and appreciate from familiar sunshine everyday to  a stranger's unexpected kindness. Everyone have received timely help from others in hard time. They are lifelong memories related to specific people in a particular time in your whole life, most of us could tell these vivid stories with when, where, who, why, what and how. However, in spite of these special "highlighted" things we found no difficulty expressing particular thanks, a majority of conditions, we have no awareness that we "should" be grateful to "someone" or "something".

David Foster Wallace's told a story that once upon a time, there are fishes with no idea what is water, pointing out that "the most obvious, ubiquitous, important realities are often the ones that are hardest to see and talk about". We are all fishes swimming hard to survive, we can clearly tell what we could see and what have happens to us or around us, ignoring the environment where we all live in, water.

The question is, as a fish, how can we react to "water", a invisible power.  Keeping grateful in mind and taking the responsibilities to refresh water is a rational way.

@shire I like what you write and... how you write it... :-)
Actually I wrote a post today (not sure i post it though) describing with gratefulness "the water" i swim in, these kind of thoughts that makes one's heart feel warm
Do you know that one of the topics of the week was: "things I'm grateful for", so there will be a lot of gratefulness if you put "grateful" in the search box...

@shire I search sometimes because i am curious what are the similarities, sometimes i use completely random words, sometimes a phrase from a post to see if there are others. But usually i just write my posts based just on a thought in my head, like many here I suppose

@shire NO NO NO!! don't be ashamed. I see there some categories of writers, and i absolutely and totally respect and admire all (sometimes I actually think that losing a streak and coming back is more difficult than holding onto it!)
I call them "Longstrekers" - keeping the streak no matter what; "Streakbreahers" there are the ones who keep on writing though losing a streak from time to time, kind of on regular basis, some have like 17 streaks lost, and... just keep posting, (I think I need a name for ppl who lost streak ones), and then oneposters, twoposters this need work on as well
I have a profile with Oneposters actually
I dig them even from the first days of 200Wad, there are some amazing posts there :-)))
