Getting deep in a book is something magical. You get that feeling like you need to know the rest of the story. Every small moment you have, you want to read as fast as possible to get a couple of pages more into the story.

Sometimes you get the same feeling in life. You can't stand the wait for something amazing that is going to happen. If you could, you would bend time to get faster at the moment you are waiting for! Christmas celebration (and the vacations that came with it) were giving me that exact feeling when I was in primary school. In December, I would count the days before the celebration and the good food. Everything was on hold, I only wanted time to go faster.

My peak of excitement was during the walk home after the last class was over. Only at that time, I would realize that the Christmas holidays were officially started. After that, the excitement of Christmas would only get smaller every day.  Even worst, near the end, I was relieved that I would get back to class soon. What I want to say is that we are good to build up future events to be exceptional. But it has a shorter honeymoon than we think. Just like a book you can't stop reading. When you finish the story, you feel like something is missing or has been stolen. What if what was stolen was the time you didn't fully enjoy while waiting for the exciting event?

@Greux I too often find the waiting and excitement to be more interesting than the end result, both in life and in books. It might be a curse of too vivid imagination or optimism, but at the end there is too often disappointment, mostly because of the exaggerated expectations. But as they say, it's not about the destination, it's about the journey. So remember to enjoy the ride!
