As I type this out on my smartphone, I do have a case on my iPhone XS Max but it’s only because it works with my Olloclip. I’m returning that, and therefore will also be returning the case along with it. That means I’ll be going back to having no case on my phone. Sweet, sweet caseless phone :)

Just a PopSocket. It REALLY helps with preventing accidental drops, since it makes it so much easier to use the large screen one-handed.

Am I crazy? NO case at all? Maybe it’s a little risky but I have AppleCare as part of the iPhone Upgrade Program. I get two instances of accidental damage per year, at $29 per incident (I think).

I find that it sucks to buy this amazing piece of tech that’s slim and sexy, then stick it in a case. Even a slim or minimal case adds thickness and weight. And even if it’s clear you can REALLY see the phone as well as when it’s caseless.

If you don’t currently go without a case for your smartphone, would you consider it? Or are you a hardcore case user who would never dream of having your smartphone be so exposed and vulnerable?

@nicksimard I have an iPhone XS and use a thin, clear rubber gel case from Spigen. Since I travel a lot I like that extra protection. I haven't used a screen protector since the original iPhone, but I may consider using one on my next iPhone as my screen has accumulated some scratches.

@brandonwilson I actually put a screen protector on recently because my phone screen was covered in a stupid number of tiny little micro scratches. I’d expect that when I pay $7,000 for a phone (yes, I’m exaggerating) that it wouldn’t scratch so easily.

And why is the back covered in glass? Just use the material from MacBooks. I don’t need glass on BOTH sides. Haha.

@nicksimard I love using an iPhone caseless. But inevitably I would get a case for it out of fear of dropping it. I wish they sold nice looking tape that provides good friction/traction for holding on to but doesnt add thickness to the phone!

@jasonleow that’s actually a great idea. For the one day that I was PopSocket-less I found it so hard to easily hold on to my phone. Yeah, it’s pretty big, but with a PopSocket (or with a grippy case) it’s so much easier. I think some strategically placed tape could do the trick.
