In recent times, the movie industry started remaking or creating sequels for popular classics. With the rise of asian representation in the movie and tv industry, I think the time is right for movie makers to start talking about immigrants.
Yes, there's now Fresh Off The Boat and Kim's Convenience but those are comedy sitcoms. I personally love watching biopics or rags to success stories and I believe there are lots of immigrants with amazing stories to tell. Some have started companies that are big today, or even restaurants that are serving their neighbourhood well. There are people who came to North America with nothing and now a top executive at a Fortune 500 company.
I also do not want this to be treated as how we do social media but telling immigrant stories that ended in failure could also be worth something. I haven't been back to my homeland Philippines in awhile but at the time, there was this assumption that once you're abroad, you're instantly rich. The dark side is that there are many immigrants who struggle to make ends meet and on top of that are sending money back home to their family.
There are so many stories that still need to be told.
If I may add, there're also really good "non-Dragonball Z" type of animes that would be awesome if it was live action and on the big screen.
