Every week James Clear publishes a newsletter about self development, growth, measuring progress, habits, science, famous and successful people in history as well as many other topics. I love his writing style and his scientific process to breaking down, analysing, hypothesising and measuring progress in wide variety of areas.
Today I read one of his newsletters which posted the following question:
“How long will you put off what you are capable of doing just to continue what you are comfortable doing?”
Needless to say this question hit me like a ton of bricks. It made me think about all the areas in my life that are lacking or lagging behind my expectations. It made me want to understand why I’m not fulfilling my greatest potential.
I think I’ll need some time to process this and come up with a good answer (that isn’t an excuse), and I encourage you to do the same.
To be brief, in my mind, most of the reasons behind our lack of greatness usually come from not doing the work required to be great in the first place. This may be because of a variety of reasons - many of which I want to discover as I delve into this question in the future...
