I woke up at 3am today to the howling winds whistling through my window. Peak winds measured 59mph at the local airport. Even my active noise canceling headphones couldn't stop the sound from piercing my ears.

Fortunately I have yet to be blown off my feet--or swept off my feet (by all the ice) during this northeastern winter, but I feel like I'm slowly exhausting my luck.

The chill is expected to grip this region for a couple more months, so I'm going to have to get used to this eventually.

Daily affirmations, from the moment my alarm goes off in the morning, help a lot. I tell myself that I'm lucky to be in good health above all else. Everyday I wake up should be a great thing, and I can't wait to create things in the world.

Not that I tie my happiness to my productivity, but having the very option to be productive is a privilege, if you think about it. Many people have to grind daily just to entertain their living, and I don't feel that way yet. Monotony, even in rote busy-ness, hasn't visited me yet, so for that I'm also thankful.
