There are things that my wife and I either don’t have the time to do, or don’t have the inclination/skillset to do, and so instead we outsource it.
I realize that not everyone will be in a position where they can pay someone else to do certain things for them, but for those of you who CAN, I’m a huge proponent of outsourcing.
One example is that we have a lady who comes to clean our house twice a month. It’s not an insignificant amount of money, but we just won’t take the time to do as deep a cleaning as she does. With two working parents, 2 kids and 3 dogs, we have a lot going on.
We try to hit the gym as a family at least a couple of times a week so we’re out of the house quite a bit. The gym we belong to is Life Time Fitness and there’s an outside pool area that has water slides and food/drink service. It’s easy to spend hours there.
So we’re left with trying to clean our house during the work week, which is pretty full already or doing it on the weekend with 2 rambunctious boys and 3 energetic dogs in the way.
Instead, every second Wednesday we have someone come to our house and take care of that for us. The stress that it removes is two-fold:
1. We don’t have to do the cleaning, which would be intense considering we have a 2-story 5-bedroom house.
2. Because things DO get cleaned and tidied, we get the calming effect of a house that’s not in complete disarray and dirty.
Another example, and this one might SOUND like it’s excessive, is meal planning/delivery. I’ll get into that one in a future post, though. Gotta run to the gym!
