My relationship with coffee started way back when I was in my first year of high school. Back then, I used it as a way to socialize with classmates during breaks in between classes.

Then, when I entered college and had to spend countless hours studying and doing homework, the relationship evolved to a more intimate level:  Coffee became my partner-in -crime:  The one that would accompany me through sleepless nights of homework, or the one who would greet me every morning and made sure I was alert for my first class.  And of course, coffee was my one special friend who would always be there to cheer me up and give me a boost of energy to power through finals week and finish strong.

Througout my time at college was also when I experimented and got out of my comfort zone with coffee.  This was also around the time when Starbucks was starting to become popular; so this facilitated my discovery process.  It was in these years that I tried my first latte, cold brew and cappuccino; all of which have now a special place in my heart.

Over the years, I have developed a taste for how I like to drink my coffee, to the point where I now drink it black (meaning:  No cream and no sugar), preferably sourced from the Guatemala or Ethiopian regions and prepared as pour-over style.  Although, depending on what time of day it is or what the temperature is outside, I may also go for an iced-latte.

There is much more I'd like to share about this special relationship, but this is where I'll leave it tonight.

    @carlosbeas coffee fan here too! Recently discovered piccolo lattes, single origins, hand drip, cold brews and even nitro! Love the artisan alchemy of putting water, beans and milk together, and the guessing game with taste notes.

      @jasonleow Woah! never heard of hand-drip... thats sounds intense and interesting. I don't think I've seen it offered my local roasters... Is there a particular place you can get those and the piccolo lattes at?

    @carlosbeas oh, delicious bean brew. My go to is a latte, usually with some syrup (hazelnut, but I switch it up)
    I do like trying new coffees though - any recommendations?

    ive fairly recently stopped drinking coffee most of the time. I have tea instead.

      @craigpetterson Lattes are always good!
      Also, ummm I'm not sure... I think it depends a lot on your particular taste.
      I like toasty and chocolatey notes in my coffee. So I tend to gravitate towards drinks that accentuate those flavors 😋
