I think I smoked about five cigarettes. I walked around in a daze with my heart in my mouth. The brutally bright lights of the convenience store did no favours so I just bought my cigarettes and got out of there. I perched myself on a railing just by the road like a punch drunk boxer. I must've looked like shit but no one batted an eye, that's the beauty of London I guess.

I caught my own bus to Elephant and Castle. I always take the very front of the top level. It makes me feel like I'm in a spaceship. This time a large milkmaid of a woman sat next to me. She said she was from America but moved there when she was seveteen. I asked if she was Lithuanian since I am familiar with them and I had suspicion she was from there given her hard jaw and strength of will. She looked at me in the eye with a mixture of surprise and pride and said that she was. Of course.

We stood outside Ministry of Sound, the air was throbbing with the bass from the club. She seemed manic. She looked down at me, her arms tense as if she was ready to milk me like a cow and said that it wasn't meant to be weird or anything but that I was very handsome. I mean, that was nice. No one from Lithuania has ever told me that before. Her eyes looked like they were bouncing in her head and she reached behind her skirt. Cocaine, she said. I said goodnight to her but gave her a hug instead of shaking her hand.
