The main thing I'd like to have accomplished in five years through a daily writing practice is to have a collection of short fiction published. I haven't thought about this practice more than that, and I haven't thought about the particulars of "published".
I know that I've had some encouraging feedback from the few people with whom I've shared the first short story I wrote on 200was. And the one person who is keeping up with my second short story. There is someone interested in illustrating the collection and another potentially interested in providing a soundtrack.
That makes me think about the collaborate aspect of 200wad which is one of the more energizing aspects of it. Not a lot of people are reading these words, but some are. I'm free to write first drafts, brain dumps, life's minutia. And I'll maybe get a little feedback. There's a level of trust we've established amongst ourselves.
I'm really interested in these micro-communities on the internet, and centering this one around writing 200 words a day has hit a sweet spot for me, and apparently for some others as well. I hope it survives.
So in five years I simply hope to have written a lot more in 200-word chunks, and feel even more connected to a small community of like-minded writers from around the world. Like "mafia" but perhaps a little bit more nuanced is the concept of the Tong...but more on that later, maybe.
