These days there are just too many awesome things to pay attention to. Like, literally, every single day I learn about something cool, inspiring or useful.

The thing is: it's impossible to keep up with them all. That's where one's mental filter kicks in and quickly discards anything deemed unimportant or unnecessary for today's existence.

I love finding out new information, discovering cool new books, startups, watching new videos, reading new posts ... But how can one stay ahead and not only absorb it all, but give it enough time and energy to be impactful?

Well, that really just comes down to a decision on whether it's worth it or not. Again, back to the mental filter: "will it help improve my current situation or is it just noise?"

Even if it is "just noise" it might still be interesting.

The internet has allowed us to fill our brains will as much information as humanly possible which you would assume is a good thing. But I'd argue it actually hinders us from truly absorbing any of it simply because we know more information exists. No one piece of information or inspiration is final. That leads to over-compensation and continuous research until the truth is uncovered.

I love stumbling upon new inspiration, but I struggle to make sense of whether it's important. This thinking all happens within a few seconds and it's hard to discern without giving it more time.

@jacklyons interesting questions! Got me thinking. Hmmm maybe you'll only connect the dots backwards? I like to believe that following your curiosity is reward enough, and usually doing that will also reward me further down the road more than I realise! :)
