Are you spending more than 30 mins commuting to work daily?
I am fortunate to stay near my workplace, so near that I can just walk and reach. But today I had to go to another end of the city for a meeting and it took 1.5 HOURS!!!
I stay in India's most densely populated city Mumbai, and it is usual for other people to travel this much EVERYDAY TWICE A DAY. That's on an average 2 hours. They can't stay near the workplace because it's too damn expensive in this part of city.
Can you imagine almost 5 lakh people (conservative estimation) commuting for 2 hours daily and most og them just listen to music or consume news so it is almost wasted time. It turns out to be 10 lakh hours daily of human resource being wasted.
Ok I might be exaggerating a bit but that's definitely a good amount of time we are losing to daily commute. How can it be optimized? For last few months I have become more time conscious and want to utilize as much as time possible. I can't imagine giving 2 hours daily to commute and not doing anything about it.
So if I were you this is how I would optimize my travel time
- Podcasts ( first priority to learning new stuff and then entertainment podcasts)
- Audiobook (This is one of the best ways to consume quality content on the go)
- I would take cab or train to have hands free so I can finish simple tasks like posting updates, writing ideas or may be writing 200 words😉
The point is to be more conscious of the time you are spending and see that you have enormous opportunity to get the most out of it in this digital age.
Hope you have a nice day with pleasing commute 😊
